The core incidence phase for a range of mental and behavioral disorders is in adolescence. Adolescence is also a critical period for brain maturation, including changes in neurobiological processes underlying goal-directed decisions, risky choices, emotional reactivity and affective modulation. Currently, I am investigating mechanisms of cognitive control and emotional attention in a community sample of adolescents and young adults. Specifically, I am interested in the role of these mechanisms in psychopathology development.
